Mud About You
|
The
Penfield Business Association is proud to congratulate Mud About You as its Business of the Month for February 2010. Mud About You received this recognition for its outstanding contributions to
the business community as well as the community at large.
Mud About You is a paint your own pottery studio that also offers mosaic art and glass fusing. We opened our doors April 17th, 2007 with the slogan “Art and Entertainment Combined” and I think that pretty much sums up our intention, business plan and attitude...

PBA Member Assists in Evaluating Haiti Earthquake Damage
Scott DeHollander, a civil engineer with the MRB Group in Penfield, is among a team of five earthquake experts traveling to Port-au-Prince for a week to help evaluate damage from the 7.0-magnitude quake that devastated Haiti.
The trip is coordinated through the Multidisciplinary Center for Earthquake Engineering Research, based at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and the Appropriate Infrastructure Development Group in Boston.
The team — which also includes experts from Florida, Texas, New Jersey and Georgia — will evaluate the structural stability of hospitals in Port-au-Prince, warehouses at ports (to be used to store food and other aid) and damaged government buildings and embassies.
DeHollander has traveled to Haiti for volunteer work several times, most recently in November. He goes to Haiti at least once a year to help in establishing a university outside Port-au-Prince.

| Business Segment Spotlight |
|
The
PBA is dedicated to encouraging the support of local business, the
construction of PBA member alliances, and the transaction of mutually
beneficial business and sponsorship between PBA members. With this in
mind, we will be featuring a monthly spotlight on a business segment of
which PBA members belong. These spotlighted members will be able to
explain in detail exactly what it is that they do, what
products/services/solutions they provide, and why it is important for
the rest of us to do business with them. This will hopefully educate
the membership on some of our more mysterious members and generate a
greater amount of internal business for us all.
