PBA Independence Day Parade Float Wins "Most Patriotic Float"

PBA Floaty

The PBA took first prize as the "Most Patriotic Float" in the 2009 Penfield Independence Day Parade. Our theme was "We the People - The Pillars of Society". The float was constructed as a Washington-style monument where featured individuals represented the columns that held up the monument. Featured individuals included those that we felt made important contributions to our community and the American way of life.

During the parade, PBA members passed out American flags to the children in the crowds and we all had a fantastic time. Click here

Networking Ranks as Top Interest for PBA Members

In a recent survey of the Penfield Business Association’s membership, “networking opportunities” ranked as the primary reason the members joined the PBA. Nearly 40% of respondents cited networking as their number one motivator, followed closely by the desire to support local business organizations and interest in educational meetings hosted by the PBA.  These were also the top reasons why members chose to renew their memberships each year.

The survey also asked members to rate the job that the PBA is doing to serve the Penfield business community, and 72% of the respondents answered “Excellent” or “Very Good.”

“Its encouraging to get such positive feedback from the membership and to learn more about what their key interests are,” said PBA President, Diane Thresh.  “We will be taking the many suggestions from the survey very seriously and are always open to feedback and suggestions.”

Many survey respondents offered suggestions on how to attract new members, a key goal for the PBA organizations.  Suggestions included connecting to other business organizations throughout Rochester, trying new and creative networking formats, and offering quarterly workshops on small business strategies.

All respondents to the survey were entered into a drawing for gift certificates to PBA member businesses.  Congratulations to Leslie Morgan, Keith LoPresto and Mary Yaworski who won $25 gift certificates to Don’s Original, Salvatore’s and Mud About You.  For more information about the survey results, please contact Leslie Zornow  at 223-9080, ext. 217 or lzornow@fairportsavingsbank.com.
